Every trade has its jargon. While the film-critic of the Chicago Sun-Times, Roger Ebert, stated, “Jargon is the last refuge of the scoundrel,” it is an efficient and professional jargon. Writer Peter Ives says, “For those who use it, it is a language which describes the world in which we live.” The following graphic helps to make sense of some library-world jargon:
